Feeding People’s “Island Universe” remixed by Free The Robots | New York Music News

Press Release: Feeding People recently released a 7″ of their single, “Island Universe,” through Innovative Leisure. Now, Free The Robots have remixed “Island Universe” and you can hear their new take on the song over at LA Record.

Feeding People also previously released a video for “Island Universe” that you can view over atSPIN. Shot at author Ray Bradbury’s old house and the Salton Sea, the Dick Thompson directed video stars Feeding People’s Jessie Jones and Louis Filliger.

About Feeding People:

Beyond the real deal is the unreal deal, and therein lies Feeding People, a band of teenagers making some of the heaviest psychedelic around decades after the 13th Floor Elevators declared their hallucinatory sense of purpose.

Feeding People was founded and is headed by nineteen-year-old Jessie Jones, who channels the raw power of Jefferson Airplane’s Grace Slick and Janis Joplin at her most primal as she leads with strong, almost vicious vocals, bellowing blasphemies as if possessed by spirits with a masked sweetness reminiscent of Billie Holiday. Her siren call reeled in Chris Alfaro of Free the Robots who produced some of the band’s earliest recordings, all of which were written acoustic and recorded electric in a single sweaty take in drummer, Michael Reinhart’s parents’ 6’x10′ walk-in closet with a 4-track recorder and mic stands made of broom handles taped to fire extinguishers.

After playing only a couple shows, Feeding People became the second band ever invited to play storied electronic music club Low End Theory, where  they shared the stage with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. “Island Universe” is the first single from their upcoming 2013 release which was recorded and produced by Jonny Bell of The Crystal Antlers and Hanni El Khatib.

Lily and The Parlour Tricks Premiere “Murder Song” | New York Music News

LILY AND THE PARLOUR TRICKS
Premiere “Murder Song”

Press Release: New York, NY – October 31st – Just in time for Halloween, the Retro rock n’ rollers Lily and the Parlour Tricks have released their music video for sleeper hit, “Murder Song” off their 2011 self-titled EP on Spinner.com today! As lead singer, Lily Claire, puts it “the video is more of a narrative short horror movie”, so this will be sure to get you into the Halloween spirit! Check out the video for “Murder Song” on Spinner.com, here: http://aol.it/Y00FAv.

Just off the 2012 CMJ Music Marathon, the band performed two official showcases and kept the same buzz as last year, being featured in both Fuse’s top 30 Must-See CMJ Artists and CBS Radio’s Top Five! It was at the CMJ Music Marathon last year that Lily and the Parlour Tricks released their self-titled album on October 18th and were without a doubt one of the buzz bands everyone was talking about! The record was produced at the legendary Daptone Studios (Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black) in Brooklyn. The process was very organic; straight to tape, almost entirely live with very minimal overdubs. Lily states, “We wanted to make an honest album, something that showcased what we really sound like. We didn’t want something too immaculate. By some stroke of fate, we were approached by Wayne Gordon from Daptone Studios. The energy in the studio was unbelievable, and the result was everything we had wanted – six songs that reflect the sweat, fun, and sincerity of our live shows.” You can purchase the album, here: http://bit.ly/rsXXMz

Soaring 3-part harmonies, burning rhythms, steamy dancing and a hell of a lot of bourbon are staples of a live show by Lily and the Parlour Tricks. A band so musically intriguing, you’d be crazy not to dive right into the cheeky fun.

The band started off like many others: while finding her niche in writing music, Lily Claire (lead vocals) met and instantly connected with Terry Moore (drums), Brian Kesley (bass) and Angelo Spagnolo (guitar) and formed a band. But it wasn’t until Morgane Moulherat and Darah Golub joined the group to create the amazing three part harmonies Lily had dreamed about, that Lily and the Parlour Tricks were finally whole.

“When you play well with others, you know it instantly and you don’t want to stop. It was just evolution from there on out,” says Lily.

After the band was fully developed, their live show transformed into something truly one-of-a-kind.

With influences such as Elvis Presley, Tom Waits and T.Rex, it’s no surprise Lily and the Parlour Tricks’ ooze the sexiest retro rock to come out of New York in a long time. The band draws from all of their musical backgrounds to create a sound unique to only them. And with the band members hailing from New York City to Pittsburgh and Detroit to Paris, France – they are just as eclectic as the music they create.

Far East Movement and Obama are ‘For All’ | New York Music News

Press Release: October 22, 2012 – “For All,” a brand new track from Cherrytree Records’ Far East Movement debuts today, October 23rd. The accompanying video – directed by Transparent Agency – will debut this Thursday, October 25th.

“The song was inspired by President Obama’s ‘For All’ campaign. We wanted to create an anthem around the inspirational ideals that people around the world are entitled to, no matter your race, religion, sexual preference, political or social views,” says Far East Movement’s Kev Nish. “We use the crowd at our concerts as the example. When you’re at a show experiencing live music, no matter who you’re next to, you’re experiencing that magic together.”

The newly penned song builds on the foundation of the “For All” campaign, delivering a message of hope and a stirring call for people everywhere to unite in creating a better world. The video for the song will debut on Thursday that features many celebrities including Snoop Dogg and Russell Simmons helping Far East Movement spread the word and encourage people to use their voice and exercise their voting rights.

Far East Movement are longtime supporters of Rock The Vote, participating in its Democracy Class program, which encourages young people to register and vote in every U.S. election. Produced by Stereotypes, “For All” can be purchased on iTunes here: http://smarturl.it/ForAll. The song will also be included on the upcoming Dirty Bass album re-package.

Wednesday, October 24, Far East Movement will appear in the latest episode of ARTIST#TALK, presented by ArjanWrites.com in partnership with HP and Microsoft Windows. Fans will be able to view the episode, which will be webcast from New York City’s Terminal 5, at www.FarEastMovement.com.

The music video for “Little Bird,” the latest single from Dirty Bass, premiered last week at http://www.earmilk.com/2012/10/17/far-east-movement-little-bird-video-premiere/. Produced by Martin “Cherry Cherry Boom Boom” Kierszenbaum, the song features a snippet from Feist’s “Caught A Long Wind,” marking the first sample ever cleared by the esteemed songwriter.

Far East Movement is also lensing a video for “Change Your Life,” a track that features Flo Rida, and has created the theme song for the animated Nickelodeon series “Monsuno.” Dirty Bass follows 2010’s Free Wired, which contained the smash hits “Like A G6,” which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, and “Rocketeer.”
